UDL (Universal Design for Learning) is a framework for curriculum development that provides all students with equal learning opportunities. The framework provides a blueprint for creating challenging instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that accurately assess learner progress (Rose and Meyer 2011).
The development of the UDL framework has been based upon the brain's recognition and strategic and affective neural networks.
While differentiated instruction involves responding to individual needs, Universal Design for Learning
(UDL) involves a bold design of the environment and the curriculums. By providing students with multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement as is done in UDL, students are given equal opportunities to learn.
